The Formula
Grapeseed is the highest linoleic acid oil on the shelf. Oily and combination skin tends to be low in linoleic acid — restoring it actually helps regulate sebum over time. At forty percent of the formula, Bare Ritual delivers more of it than any other body oil at this price point.
Safflower at twenty-eight percent handles the dry-touch finish. Jojoba at eighteen percent, a liquid wax ester that mimics skin's own sebum, signals the skin to produce less of its own.

The Finish
Most body oils sit on the surface. Bare Ritual disappears in under sixty seconds and leaves something more useful behind: skin that doesn't shine.
The dry-touch finish comes from the grapeseed-safflower ratio. Both oils are high-linoleic, low-occlusive. They don't form a film on top of the skin — they integrate into it.

The Vessel

Yes — when the formula is right. Most body oils make oily skin worse because they're high in oleic acid, which mimics excess sebum. Bare Ritual is built on grapeseed and safflower, both high in linoleic acid — the fatty acid oily skin is actually deficient in. Restoring linoleic acid through topical application has been shown in dermatology research to help regulate sebum production over time. It does not add to oiliness; it rebalances it.

The fragrance is a blend of natural and skin-safe synthetic components — fig leaf, bergamot, white musk, and cedarwood. It meets IFRA Category 4 standards for leave-on body products at the three percent inclusion rate used in the formula. Bergamot in the blend is FCF (furocoumarin-free) so it does not cause photosensitivity when worn in sunlight.
Room temperature, away from direct sunlight. The frosted glass blocks the UV wavelengths that would otherwise degrade the high-linoleic oils, so it's safe to leave on a bathroom shelf. Unopened shelf life is twelve to eighteen months. Once opened, use within nine to twelve months for best results.
