The House
Hand-blended in Chicago, Illinois. Six ingredients per oil. No filler. Every drop, intentional.
The Origin
We picked up a luxury body oil at a department store. Four ounces. Fifty-eight dollars. We turned the bottle around to read the ingredients.
Caprylic/capric triglyceride. Cyclopentasiloxane. Dimethicone. PPG-3 benzyl ether myristate. Synthetic ester after synthetic ester. The plant oils — the things people think they're paying for — were in the bottom half of the list. The first eighty percent of what I was holding was lab-synthesized slip agents.
Not bad ingredients. Just not the ingredients we were paying for.
We put the bottle back. That night, we started reading.
The Philosophy
Every Burnish & Bloom oil is built on the same architecture: five carrier oils plus one fragrance. That's it. Six ingredients you can pronounce, in percentages that actually matter.
The ratios shift across the three formulas because different skin types want different things. Bare Ritual leads with grapeseed — the highest linoleic acid carrier — for oily skin that needs rebalancing. Golden Veil leads with sunflower for normal skin and signature glow. Midnight Pour leads with jojoba for dry and sensitive skin that needs a real barrier.
What we don't use: silicones, synthetic emollients, mineral oil, dimethicone, parabens, phthalates, artificial colorants.
Not because they're forbidden. Because the formulas don't need them.
The Production
Hand-blended in small batches in Chicago, Illinois. Every batch is weighed by gram, blended at temperature, rested for forty-eight hours, then bottled by hand into frosted or amber glass.
Carrier oils sourced from Columbus Foods (Soaper's Choice) in Des Plaines, Illinois — an SQF-certified facility forty minutes from the workspace. Single supplier for all carrier oils means batch consistency from one bottle to the next.
Each batch is checked under raking light before it leaves. If a bottle has visible sediment, a misaligned label, or a pump that doesn't pour evenly, it doesn't go out. Quality control at this scale is human.
The Pricing
Most luxury body oils at this ingredient quality cost forty to sixty dollars for four ounces. Burnish & Bloom oils are twenty dollars for eight ounces — twice the volume, half the price.
How: no retail markup, no distributor margin, no celebrity ambassador budget. Direct from the workspace to the customer. The savings get returned to the formula and to you.
The goal is not to be cheap. The goal is to be honest about what the formula actually costs to make.
Our Values
Six ingredients per oil. Plant-derived carriers, no synthetic filler. The label is short because the formula is honest.
Hand-blended in Illinois. Each batch is checked under raking light before it ships. No factory. A workspace.
Premium ingredients at indie prices. Twenty dollars for eight ounces — what the formula deserves, what you can afford.
